Meet Raja.....

Lets get spookey!  There are plenty more flashbacks on projects that I have done, but with the upcoming holiday quickly approaching, I would like to post some of my past and present projects for Halloween.

My next three blog posts will be of some costumes I've made in the past for......my dog :)

                         Meet Raja!

(The above picture is of Raja with her not so little brother Gregory; July 2010)

Raja is our now 6 year old 2lb 7oz Chihuahua.  One of my fur babies, and of course the smallest of all my babies!

Halloween 2005 was our first Halloween with Raja and I decided she needed a costume to greet kids at the door!  So I made Raja a bat!  As you can see this was not too far fetched as she already looked like one!

(Raja as a bat Halloween 2005, I caught her eating so she looks vicious!)

Not only did the idea of making Raja a bat for Halloween come easy due to her natural ability to look like a bat but the costume was as easy to make as they come.  Raja wore a harness to attach her leash to so I cut out 2 identical pairs of bat wings from black felt. I covered one side of one of the pairs of bat wings with fabric glue, gently laid the other pair on top.  The glue and double layer provided the stiffness needed to keep the bat wings standing up.  I also took a silver sharpy that I already had to draw bone lines to provide a little more depth.  I simply placed the wings between Raja's harness and her back so we could still attach her leash when taking her out side to go to the bathroom. That was it!  She did the rest!

(These are the wings before I put them in place on Raja's back, they look a lot better on her!)

If you like what you see here come back Friday and Monday to see the next two costumes I made for Mrs. Raja.  Which include a Spider and a Skunk!

  2. Oh wow I'm super excited to have you join my blog! Thank you for your newbie party opportunities...I'm going to try to be there every week! Although a lot of the work others have submitted kind of intimidates me b/c they are so good but it helps knowing they are newbies too for me to get the guts to post on it!

  3. She's adorable! My dogs also have so many clothes and the other day my kids were complaining they have had the same halloween costumes for 2 years:) Last night my daughter had a fashion show with one of our dogs--summerwear, Christmas wear, jogging outfits etc. It was funny. I guess I should do a post on it! The bat costume is adorable!

  5. Love it! So, I read your blog and the part about you guys trying for a year and a half to get pregnant hit home. We have a daughter and have been trying for six months to get pregnant again. I just found out I'm not so I think I'm going to go to a fertility doc and see what's up. I mean, shouldn't #2 be easier?

Anyway, thanks for your comment and follow! I'm following you too.

  7. Kelli, it's so hard when you want something so bad! I too would have thought #2 would be easier but I don't really know. In my case there is no telling, we are on a time limit on trying again; ready or not but I still have a little time! Go ahead and go to the fertility dr, it can't hurt. Thank you for the follow!

  15. Kabbott, no these days are mostly spent on Gregory. I didn't even make his costume....eek! Raja has gotten a little grouchy in dealing with the kiddo so I don't think she would appreciate it too much anyways!

  16. Understandable, at least you were able to do some creative stuff for her while she'd allow it. :)
